UConn Huskies Head Coach Dan Hurley Declines Lakers Coaching Offer

Hurley Wins Second NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament Championship

UConn Coach Decides to Stay with Huskies after Six-Year Lakers Contract Offer

Dan Hurley, the head coach of the UConn Huskies men's basketball team, has declined a six-year coaching offer from the Los Angeles Lakers. The news comes just over a month after Hurley led the Huskies to their second NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament championship under his leadership.

Hurley became just the second active coach to win multiple NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament championships when UConn defeated the Houston Cougars 71-65 in the title game in April. The 53-year-old coach has been at the helm of the Huskies program since 2018, and has led them to two NCAA Tournament appearances and one Sweet Sixteen berth.

Hurley's decision to stay at UConn is a major boost for the program. The Huskies are coming off a historic season in which they won their first national championship since 2014. With Hurley at the helm, UConn is poised to make another run at the NCAA Tournament title next season.
